BALLY’ S JEAN PROUVÉ DEMOUNTABLE HOUSE IN COLLABORATION WITH SWISS ARCHITECT PIERRE JEANNERET
27th until 30th of March 2015
This will be the final stage of a year-long evolving exhibition that celebrates modernity, functionality and innovation through the work of Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Prouve and friends, inventors of modernist architecture and design.
For all three exhibitions, Bally has chosen to collaborate with artists in each of the locations where the house was presented. These collaborations created a true dialogue with younger generations not yet familiar with modernist design. For the occasion of the Prouvé/ Jeanneret house’s first time ever exhibition in China, Bally has invited internationally-renowned curator Jérôme Sans to select a Chinese artist and commission a site specific art work.
Wang Yuyang has created a new sculpture piece, entitled ‘Equip,’ in dialogue with the aesthetics and philosophy of Prouvé’s and Jeanneret’s modernist designs. Wang Yuyang’s work entails a 3D process, which transforms the linear dimensions of the house through binary code and 3D image generation into a sculptural form. The measurements and proportions of the Jean Prouvé house floor plans become for Wang Yuyang the true essence of modernity.
